Art Glass Pipes
Back in 1999 When Cannabis was in the talking stages for NM. I decided to carry Smoking apparatus’ in my store. Though the gov’t was systematically charging & closing pipe stores. This was called Operation Pipedream.
At the newly organized pipe show in Las Vegas 1999, I discovered HANDBLOWN GLASS ART. We have now been selling pipes for over 25 years.
Grateful Dead Merch
What can I say! I’ve been a concert following fan for over 40 yrs. In 1986 I started following the GD Tour & selling products in a space we called Shakedown/ GD. Merchandising came to the vendors and stated they would confiscate any GD related merch, So in 1985 my brother & myself opened the first of a five store GD HIPPIE chain of stores. Been the go to Dead store since 1988.
Tapestries
These are the bed size fabrics in a variety of designs to cover beds, furniture, windows, wall hangers, etc. The multi designed tapestries have so many different uses.
Masks
In 2000 we decided to go into the costume accessories business. We started by carrying Venetian Masks. But, we found the face fit to not be proportioned correctly and Sit poorly.
The we were introduced to Tiffany @ Artsmyth’s. She made all different styles of masks handmade out of leather. We still carry these magnificent masks.
Incense
What Hippie store doesn’t carry incense & oils! No not because hippie’s stink! It has been proven that essential oils + scents provide a therapeutic atmosphere. We are building this section to provide a larger selection of preferred incense, oil, & burners.
Import Accessories & Jewelry
In our travels and working with various importers of ethnic made items. Cute woven scarves, sarongs, hacky sacks, handbags, and handmade jewelry. Who doesn’t remember friendship bracelets!?
Posters
Birdland has focus on vintage concert posters & blacklight art. In 1989 my brother and I went to Chicago and bought out HIP PRODUCTS vintage black light poster collection. After having a similar gallery in Nashville, I opened Imagine Gallery. Limited edition art and signed from John Lennon, Jerry Garcia, Mikes Davis & Ronnie Woods. 50+ year old blacklight posters still available.
